What can I expect from a Postpartum Doula?
Help with the emotional and physical recovery after birth
Light housekeeping so that mom does not feel so overwhelmed
Running errands
Assistance with newborn care such as diapering, bathing, feeding and comforting
Light meal preparation
Baby soothing techniques
Sibling care
Referrals to local resources such as parenting classes, pediatricians, lactation support and support groups as needed
Most families request services anywhere from 4 weeks to 12 weeks or longer after bringing home a new baby depending on the family situations and dynamics; receiving assistance for as many as 5 days a week, then adjusting down to three, and two as the weeks pass and the family transitions.
Daytime shifts (with a minimum of 4 hours) and nighttime shifts (with a minimum of 9 hours) are both available/ Helping determine each families individual needs to customize a plan to fit your individual needs will take place at the initial consultation.
